I was hoping for another covered hopper.  Agree, waiting for a "mystery" post to order more.  These guys keep coming out with stuff that you can't resist.  I don't really care where they put the built by Menard's, but agree, it's better where this one is.  Also, it proves that they listen to us on the forum.

Gotta love Menard's, especially after looking over the prices for the new Lionel rolling stock...

I am not familiar with the markings on this boxcar; does anyone have an idea what timeframe boxcars with these markings would have been commonly seen? Thanks in advance.

The WP Feather box car was first seen in the 1950's and ran through the 60's......

Lionel made it famous first!  Menard's is a great improved version.

Any chance made a international order like a Finland? Now there is only USA & Canada choice.

Thanks,

Johan

Johan, here is a link to the USPS shipping calculator.  It's pretty straightforward.

It may help you to decide if it makes sense to ship the Menards product you want from US to Finland with an OGR member receiving the Menards product here in the US and sending it on to you.

Of course, as Mark points out below, in the event there is a problem with your product, Menard's customer service will be unable to provide you with the level of customer support they routinely provide.

I think everyone can agree that we are known for our outstanding customer service. If an item has a blemish (let's say one side is missing a sequence number), we replace the item at no charge to you.

Don't get me wrong, our defect rate is very low. However, we are not equipped to send a replacement item overseas. I hope this is understandable given the circumstances.

Hi Johan,

Unfortunately, we do not offer international shipping at this time. From my experience, it is very expensive. Sorry about that!

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the your quick answer. I just wonder because i have order from USA earlier some train stuff maybe over $50 000 dollars and never nobody has not tell at shipping is too expensive to us. Please, let us decide what is too expensive to us.

Thanks,

Johan

Johan,

Please reference my post from earlier today. What I was implying is that it would be too expensive for us to replace any items that arrived damaged.

Mark I went to order a $19.99 car but just before hitting submit I notice no mention of the mystery gift being part of it. Is it supposed to be there like when you're giving away a flat car with it or is it automatically added to the shipment?

rtraincollector,

The free item should appear in your cart. If it does not, you may have to physically add it. Here's a link to the mystery item.

Once both items are in your cart, you should see the discount applied. If you don't, please let me know.

Thanks Carl. Very friendly. I can take contact from you later this week. Porvoo Model Railroaders visit in Germany later this year and would be a nice get some items to our Shark Bay Layout before that.

Many thanks,

Johan

Hey Bob, once you've got the mystery box, it ain't no mystery any more.  I'm waiting for a post on this.  No hints.  Can't use anymore Kubota tractors or military vans.  I understand the black thing should exclude these, but Jeez...

Waiting to order the WP car, covered hoppers, (wish there were more) Menard's truck, and probably 20170127_170127[1]more.  Just adding spur lines to hold more trains and buildings.

Johan ....

I haven't seen/read your email, yet.  I'll do so later this evening.

In the meantime, what I'd suggest you do is the following:

1.  Decide on what you want to order from Menard's.

2.  Use Menard's website and create an order for delivery to an address in the U.S. in order calculate what the shipping charge will be for a U.S. delivery.  Also, aggregate the weight of the shipment IF THE weight is a factor in calculating the USPS international shipping charge.  Note:  the SIZE of the shipment package may also be a factor in the USPS shipping calculator and I'm not sure if that information will be apparent from the Menard's information.

3.  With whatever information the above information shows, calculate the USPS shipping charges from U.S. to Finland, and add that to the cost of the Menard's items you want.

4.  Determine what, if any, duties/customs Finland will charge for importing your Menard's items.

Once you've accumulated all of the out-of-pocket information (acquisition cost, shipping charges for domestic Menard's customer, U.S. to Finland USPS shipping charge, and Finland customs/duty), you can better decide if this is a worthwhile undertaking.  In other words, it's up to you to do the "leg work" in calculating the post-purchase costs of such a transaction.

Look forward to reading your email later this evening.

Well Mark the Menards guy, I jumped in with both feet and ordered 18 cars, meaning 18 free mystery gifts. As I wrote in an earlier thread, I hope it will not be 18 all of the same truck. The Menards truck was what was hinted at in a previous forum members comment. If it is the truck and you can mix it up for me, Greatly appreciated. As 18 Menards truck wouldn't quite look right on a layout Would love a mix of Menards, PRR, the soda trucks or flatbed truck or army truck as that would be pieces of equal value. If you need my order # to facilitate just contact me by e-mail in profile. Thanks again. Love the product .
