Good Day Mark,
Double-Stack Intermodal Car suggestions....................

Swafford, I like the MKT, Frisco and Santa FE the best.................Paul
Swafford - I need to apply part time at Menards if these were all to be released. I like em all !
This opens a huge amount of opportunities for new liveries/containers down the road. Awesome!! I've wanted to get more intermodal equipment but didn't want to spend the bucks for scale Lionel/MTH cars. So far I only have 3 K-Line cars and they're pretty hard to find nowadays. Since these Menards cars are very close to scale size I'm excited!
Union Pacific's Longest Intermodal Train....................... Power Consist of 3x2x2x2.

Swafford
WOW Just Wow!
These cars look like they came from the old ROWI molds and tooling. I hope Menards beefed up the sides and bottoms so the bodies do not warp / sag like the Old ROWI cars did!
These should be sold out in 3, 2, 1..........
I like the idea of separate intermodal containers... but wonder if there is enough interest to justify production? It would seem that there are no plans at the moment to produce an 'empty' well car that the separate containers could be used in?
Yes? No?

I think you may be too narrow in your thinking. Guys and gals may just want additional containers for their Intermodal yard, so they can have stacks that match what goes into these well cars so they can unload into one stack and load from another.

You do not need to sell empty Intermodal cars in order to sell containers. As shown in my photo above 99% of the time the containers are mixed owners. Also if you want a Intermodal yard you need TONS of the containers.
If I modeled modern I'd do something like this.....
Evergreen is a container I saw a lot on the west , J B Hunt and SCHNEIDER on the east coast.
How are the top containers secured for operation? These would be my first double-stacks.
What, me worry?

Alfred,
The top containers have pegs on the bottom that allow them to stack. Thanks for asking!

A frontpage Wall Street Journal article appeared earlier this week and could provide some additional ideas for containers to offer. Think of the collectability potential!

It would be more useful to post sources that you don't have to subscribe and pay for the access. Paying these monkeys $1/wk just for the occasional news story is a bit rich!

The WSJ on Facebook seems to have a subscription free version of the story as well.

I hope that you are correct and that there is enough rail modelers interested in purchasing a great variety of containers in at least the most often spotted liveries so that Menards can justify production. OR.... could a container yard with stacker, etc. be coming in the not too distant future?

Why are all the Menard's images showing up as this? I must be missing something.

Yeah, Photobucket wants me to pay $400 (per year) so I can use their service. Needless to say, I'm working on a solution.
Have a great weekend!

CabinetBob owns Photobucket
Here is the single-unit 40' intermodal well car in the recent TTX scheme with a MAERSK LINES container on bottom and an EMP container on top.
