I found a great thread here about the grease freezing up on the old Williams engines. That's what happened to a SD45-10 Diesel that somebody gave me earlier in the year.  I just got around to testing it and it would light up, but no movement.  Before I fried anything, i searched here and found that the trucks can get stuck with the old grease. I took it apart, and that was the case. The wheels all move freely now and the engine moves as it should.

Two issues came up though -

I am using a Pure Power MRC controller and the horn does not work on the engine.  The lights dim, but no horn. i am wonder how easy of a fix that is?

Also, one motor and truck would freeze occasionally when doing test drives.  I took it apart, lubed it again, and it happened again. Then realized that the motor is getting stuck. I rotated the black spinning disk on the top of the motor, a small click would happen and it would unfreeze, and it worked. I had to do that twice and now it seems like everything is OK after several more test drives.  If there is an issue there or a potential fix, please let me know?

** Edit - I put the body back on the train and the motor got stuck again.

Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem with a williams rdc.  Rotated the flywheel, heard the click, thought I solved it.  Several weeks later it locked up, a split gear.  I was able to obtain a truck.  Lots of williams locos used the same trucks, don't dispare if your specific loco part isn't listed, look for it cousins.  Good luck.
