I am pulling out my post-war heavyweights and all of the window strips have shrunk and cracked. I just spent a few minutes looking online for replacements and have gotten frustrated. Does anyone have a good source for these or a part number? I have a 'Lionel 2625-24' but that one has silhouettes I think. I was hoping to find the original frosted ones

I don't have exactly this car, but from the big online site I bought "Rigid Plastic Sheet Clear Polycarbonate Sheet Shatter Resistant Plastic Sheets for DIY Crafts Document Picture Frames (14 x 11 x 0.02 Inches", and used a good, really good pair of scissors to cut them to fit. The 0.02" thickness is perfect, for me anyway. I then used double sided tape to hold the ends in place.
I did the same thing, and I used 1/4" wide DS tape and some 6mil plastic sheets. I did a whole raft of Lionel heavyweights that had the spotted Windows. While I was in there, I upgraded them to LED lighting, a great improvement.
Try East coast train parts. He has both silhouetted and blank.

Probably at many times the cost of using the clear plastic sheet and making you're own. They're just strips of clear plastic, not a big deal. I don't deal with the silhouettes, so that's not a factor for me.

yeah,
I was kinda wondering if some leftover theater lighting diffusion gel would do the trick - but I have 6~9mil plastic roll, and it has a fair amount of frost/translucence. That oughta' work!

I have gone to Hobby lobby, purchased Velum paper and printed my own silhouettes and cemented in place.
