Rich, that is only enough time to watch the model train layout and then leave. A bunch of years back I planned a weekend with my brother, sister, and my two nieces(sister's) in which we got out to Strasburg some time between 11 & 12. The reason for our visit was next door at the Strasburg Railroad, and our tickets were for I want to say around 3:30-4, I can't remember.

We spent the time at the museum until I want to say just after 2, and we did take our time looking at some things in depth, others just a quick read. We had lunch at the Cafe at the railroad, which was pretty good(I've had several meals there mostly lunch, but coffee is good).

I made sure to get our tickets well before our ride on the rails behind #90(I did that before lunch). This way if we took too much time eating, I wouldn't have to worry about the tickets one bit(I ordered online, showed print out to get tickets). With what time we had left I went back over to the museum's gift shop. If we had time we would have hit the Toy Train Museum as well, but I took too much time in the gift shop.

In short to do all of that takes a good mind for time and planning. I've popped out to Strasburg RR as well as the museum during York week(Wednesday museum, Friday when 611 at the RR), and even spent some time at the RR on Saturday. The bottom line is unless you want to speed walk/run through the museum, it is better to take your time. I've chatted with some of the staff a few times as well as other York goers, and that alone(25-30 minutes) was worth it's weight in gold. Take time if possible, and hour is not enough time to take anything in unless you're stuck in an indecisive mode about what gift to get.
