Moved again and now have available to me an approximately 19 X 12 space with installed shelving on three and a half sides of the room.  I can expand this to three feet deep but they are 2 feet deep now..  So an around the wall layout seems  to use the best amount of space.  I have a bunch of 080, 072,064 curved track.  Most of my expensive locos need at leas O-72.   I do not want a duck-under but I do want a more interesting double-tracked mainline than two parallel loops.  I can incorporate 2 Atlas O double track bridges about 40 inches in lenght and 2 Miami Valley Warren truss double track bridges about four feet long.  I own a bunch of industrial building flats so I would like to have them on the back across from the doorway with some switiching possibilities.

I am a dummy with track software.  So any help is much appreciated.

Thank you

An O80 circle has a 7'8" diameter, no?.  In a 12' X 19' space you are going to have to go around the walls with a duck under or lift bridge.  To do any loops back on themselves you can use O60 max.  Also incorporating 4- 4' bridges requires a bit of space between curvatures of the track.  That's a good sized space, but you are putting Large sized elements into the equation.  I would start with 2 mainline loops around the area, then plug in your other desires.

A good idea is to draw out your space on 1/4" graph paper. 1/4" = 1' on the graph paper? 1" = 4' in O scale.  Same deal.  Draw out a 12' X 19' rectangle and see what you can fit in there using 7'8" diameter curves.  Being realistic, you are very limited.

Yes space is always at a premium with O gauge.  Curves eat real estate fast, That said if you want an island layout that's up to you.  Might be able to fit 090 and stiil have  several feet to walk around. If its Atlas track your 4 " center rail to center rail. Reach is  an issue so you would need access hatches. You can do differing levels or all on the same level. One with 090 curves one with 080 or 072, or go smaller, 072 and 054. Or go around the walls and put a peninsula of your longer 19' run in the middle with a Yard or engine service area.
