Good morning all, I just wanted to share some pictures of my first attempts at weathering.
I used a few different mediums, acrylic paint, pastel chalks, India ink, iso alcohol.

Well done!

I'm impressed for your first attempts! Keep up the practice and see where it leads you.
I'm 100% against graffiti. There is none of it on my layout. I also model the late 19th century...
If that's your first attempt at weathering, you are really good, graffiti and all! Very nice!
I agree. Very nice work.
Great job on the cars. I personally don't care for clean cars at all. I like the scale look of grungy used cars just like in the real world. I like a mix of graffiti as well so as to stay scale correct and make things realistic.
That's your first attempt? VERY nice! Keep up the good work.

That is a heck of a first attempt. Impressive. I have not yet worked up the courage to try weathering myself. Although shiny and clean has its place weathered rolling stock really looks cool. And having grown up in and around NYC a train car without graffiti is just un-natural.
Thanks,
Ed
Very nice! i like some of the little details, like the rust stain creeping down the side of the UP boxcar and the smearing of the GT on the hopper.
And from the looks of your avatar, thank you for your service.
Beautiful!
