Living in Florida I have no basement or garage to turn into layout space. My wife has said for years I should put trains on top of our living room valance. Although I thought that would be fun I never thought it could yield a serious operating layout. Well I just completed a loop all around the living room and to my surprise there is a lot more room there then I ever thought. I wish I did this years ago. Anyway I am just getting started on this but thought some of you would like to see a video of where I'm at.

The curves wouldn't make it inside the valance. Had to bridge the corners. The curves are 40.5 radius.

My wife and I were talking about putting some sort of scenic backdrop. I haven't gotten to that yet.

Yes the roof above the living area is cross-gabled. I get a lot of comments about that from visitors.

The gristmill is kit-bashed from an Atlas Trainman two story home. I'm still working on that one. There is also a Trainman rural station and a Walther's tower. Also if you watch closely you'll see a stone Ameri-Towne Flag Stop Station. These kits are all excellent buys in the O scale market. If I remember I got the two Trainman kits along with the Flag Stop and the stone work for $50.

View from floor level. The last three shots are right below the corner shown in the first photo. I run my train from the floor with a handheld memory throttle that gets its juice from the MRC 6200 in the picture. I get access to power by sliding away a small opening. See yellow clip.

I spliced the the handheld cable (grey) into network cable (blue) that can plugged into either of two outlets located in corners as seen. I plan to add another outlet pretty soon to have three locations to plug into.
