I received all of 2014 catalogs in the mail yesterday. Nice to peruse then in person. I've gone through them online in the past weeks but always manage to find things I missed without a hard copy,

In the RTR, noticed that they are doing some Post War-Inspired rolling stock -- box cars, tankers and flat loads. Offered in Sante Fe, PRR and Timken liveries. Also was surprised to see the classic Gateman in the Accessories section. There are plenty of those floating around but think it's been years since they were offered new in the catalog.

Yes, I prefer paper copies, but must admit that by the time I receive them each year I've ordered all I will order.

I recieved a full set from Nassau Hobby in the mail.  Then when at my LHS yesterday, they would not let me leave without a full set: they are closing/retiring next month and had tons of them and just wanted to get rid of them, I think!~

I believe my desire to still hold a hard copy of the train catalogs relates to when I was a Kid.  They called them "dream" or "wish" catalogs because a lot of that was done back then.  When my dad would bring the new Lionel catalog home for me or we went to the Christmas Lionel display at Macy's in San Francisco and I asked for one, the excitement I felt was overwhelming.........I get that same feeling today.

The great catalog covers, thumbing through the pages just like I did back then.  I'm still really a kid at heart when it comes to trains.

All 5 catalogs arrived in a box a couple of days ago, but I just got around to opening the box tonight.  Thought it was junk mail , 'cause I didn't recognize the name of the company (Access Business Group) which shipped them.  No Lionel branding whatsoever on the outside of the package.   So I was pleasantly surprised to see Lionel catalogs inside!!!

I know the post office has some special rates when shipping bound printed material.  But even at that, it's still gotta cost companies (i.e., whether it be Lionel directly or individual dealers/clubs as the case may be) a few bucks to ship these jewels to all their prospective audience at large.  I'm impressed.

I actually found the track and power catalog very compelling reading.  Now to read the others

Tim, thanks for posting photo of all 5 Lionel catalogs.  They did a fantastic job on covers and design work.  I'm glad they took the time to do it right.  Well done Lionel.

I should (hopefully) receive my set this week sometime.  The old General wood burner takes longer to get to the West Cost ya know.

I was in the same, prespective, about the catalogs,  as I looked. Saturday,

thought it was something have to do with my business.  We, all know what

the simple brown packaging looked, like, they are nice.  HOWEVER, I am,not

a believer, that 1 specific hobby shop sent them.  1) NO, business card, 2) it takes

a data base for address??,  3) The return on capital, is to LIONEL,(primarily), and the LHS, as a whole,  NOT, 1 specified business hobby shop.   My purchase game plan will continue in the same manner. As, before they were shipped.

Picked mine up at one of my friendly dealers on Friday.  Generally pleased with the new offerings.  Still would rather have the USRA Heavy Mikes in Milwaukee livery.  There were a hundred of them that the"road" got and they ran right up to the end of steam.  i guess I'm goig to have to pick one up and have it painted for my railroad.

some of the other stuff looked pretty neat, too.  I'll have to place another order, soon.

Thanks for responding, Doug!!!  My catalogs from Lionel must be lost in the mail somewhere then.

I would give them a few more days, just got mine from Lionel in today's mail. They came from same place in Michigan as reported by others. USPS is sometimes slow with printed material.

I got my catalog on Monday and after the thread that was run last week I decided to order the CSX Crane and sound car. I also like the reduced size Union Station.

The Berks look nice but I have to draw the line this year, we have alot going on at home so my toy budget has to be held in check.

Oh well, such is life!
