Can someone tell me what configuration of Super O came with the 2297WS set?
was there only an oval with this postwar set? Or more complex?
thanks.

According to David Doyle book of sets 2297ws came with 12- 31 curve track, 5- 32 straight track and 1 insulated straight track and a 39-20 operating packet. So just a oval.
Nice set!
Thank you Franktrain.
A collegue I work with tried to give me this box full of train stuff.
I took one look and there was great 746 , boxed tender, boxed caboose, and drips and drabs of the horse car, milk car, and a part o the forklift car plus accessories in various possibly restorable conditions. After we looked it over he said they were his childhood trains! So, I reminded him of the time machine factor when running ones original postwar trains. I couldn’t accept them so I told him I would renovate what I could and give them back to him and we should make his childhood layout once again! Happily he agreed! So I will see what track I am missing and follow through. I do see the special track for the milk car? Has a rail or bar adjacent outside rail. an uncoupler shorty , a couple of 532 straights, no copper bus bars.
note: I have always wanted a 746 but suffice it to say it will be cool to clean it up and get it running along with the other stuff. One more project to add to my ever growing list! It was exciting to identifying the remains of the the set as 2297WS Great moments tonight!
Another question regarding 2297WS
what transformer came with the set?
thx.
O gauge sets did not expressly include transformers until late in the postwar era. If needed, they would have been factored into the overall price at the dealer. With the accessories, a TW would be appropriate for the set itself; an upgrade/ upsell to a KW or ZW for larger layouts.
Leroof,
Kudos for helping your colleague. It should be a fun getting the 746 back in action.
Fendermain
Fendermain! Dormant for decades, 746 cycles F-N-R “It’s Alive!” the tender whistle is trying to work.
There’s going to be a lot of cleaning and lubing going down. I am in the middle of a couple other projects but when on the bench, this one is going to rock!
Uberstationmeister, thx I will keep this in mind.
I will post progress but no time soon.
happy holidays to all.
