3 Amp Diode | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I have a new smoking caboose and & did some research to keep the smoke unit which was really blasting out the smoke from melting the plastic. In other posts, some of you put in a 3 Amp diode in series to solve the melting issue. So, I went online and found hundreds and hundreds of diodes at 3 amp that included a lot of other technical information. That's not my area of expertise so I'm looking for help in identifying a 3 amp diode to reduce the voltage (I'm using DCS).

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Terry

Just a plain 1N5408 will do fine, available almost everywhere. Truthfully, any standard silicon diode with at least a 50V rating will be fine.
