My MTH 30-20949-1 SD70ACE runs smooth when the smoke unit is off. When the smoke unit is on, it seems to jerk on curves and on switches. Any ideas on what could be the problem? I’m running it with my dcs on the fixed 2 channel using a brick from a z1000

I'd first check the smoke wiring and the fan, if there's a short to the frame or the fan is drawing excessive current, it can make it run poorly.

Ok I’ll open it up. I don’t really know what to look for but I’ll take pics.
If it's acting funny while changing direction, you should be looking for a wire making contact via that movement. So in this case, maybe the trucks have wires causing another wire to make partial contact when the trucks turn. I would look for a bad connection or a bare wire if I were you.
