The problem with the car is that it will dump properly several times and then the swinging side assembly will drop down and remain down. If I try forcing it back, I'm met with resistance. I aligned the bin and the side per the Lionel service manual, but as I said that only works for a short period. I'm wondering if one of the two gears might be stripped out? It is really hard to tell. The manual doesn't go into detail as to how to replace the pinion arm 3459-17. Replacing the one attached to the bin (3459-19) appears to be fairly straightforward. Thanks
