Clem I tried searching for it I know it was GRJ but man he posts a lot but here is the part number DC0000024 you need 2 of them per engine. They are currently out of stock.
DC0000024 | WHEEL & AXLE ASSEMBLY / HIGH RAIL / W/HELICAL GEAR / 44 TONER / NO TRACTION TIRES (Out of Stock) | $16.00/ea |
Thank You Shawn
Sorry, I bought the last set for my 44-ton engine.
Sounds like you guys should join me to found The Traction Tire Abolition Society!
At least I now have a part number but wonder if they'll ever be produced again...
GRJ,
Did the wheels without traction tires make a noticeable improvement in performance such as reduced stalling over switches and crossovers?

I have no special vendetta against traction tires, I just wanted to give this particular locomotive better contact with the rails due to the fact that the trucks are poorly designed. The continuity from the wheels to the electronics is pitiful in these units, so I figured more wheels might help.

It helped over the double-slip switches, but it didn't truly address the whole problem. For whatever reason, this particular engine has more trouble with switches than many of my similar sized locomotives.
GRJ,
What is the”while” problem?
44 ton drive wheels? I sure hope that you have some serious cranes available.
