CAPPilot...prototypical boxcars came/and still do come in various height-width-length proportions. The prototype sizing is a basic reason for Assoc. Amer. RR standards such as EXCEEDS PLATE C etc. The RMT woodchip car is NOT a 'traditional' or 0-27 size short boxcar but is more in line with what could be called a very satisfactory o-gauge/scale railcar without really getting into the O gauge vs scale debate.
Woodchip dimensions are stated on RMT website as FULL SIZE O-gauge Dimensions
Approx. 12in.L x 4in.H x 2 3/8in.W.
My personal observations are that these Premium RMT woodchip cars as O-gauge or even O-scale would 'hold-their-own' against an O-scale boxcar type car costing upwards to $99 from other suppliers. With the level of decoration, construction and details on an RMT woodchip car, the model railroader should be well pleased with this RMT car.
These woodchip cars will be in short supply so I would suggest, if interested, place your order soon with your favorite train store hobby dealer.
Thanks.
