Sad to hear about this situation, hope they can keep it running and get more board members and finances to keep it up and running safely!

That is aggravating! That article raises a ton of questions.....
Here is one more with some additional information.
Back in January our local model railroad group (RF&P Model Railroaders, Richmond, Va) held its annual meeting. The president of the Buckingham Branch Railroad did a presentation on the state of operations on the BB which included information about future 611 excursions. Bottom line was the BB was not planning on any 2024 611 excursions as they were "burnt out" after the 2023 excursions. Also the BB's main project in 2024 was to complete a new boarding/parking area for their regular weekend excursions as the existing boarding area at the old Staunton station was inadequate. It was their hope that the 611 excursions could return in 2025.
So despite the present turmoil at VMT there were no plans to run excursions in 2024 as far as the Buckingham Branch was concerned.
