I have a question concerning the two blue Santa Fe swifchers from 1970.  The 8010 had cab stripes.  The 634 did not.  Were both of these identical mechanically (motor etc.) To the striped 634 of 1963?  I got one of these for Christmas when I was 11.  I remember it had a fixed front (plastic) and fixed rear (metal) couplers.  Is the 8010 (1970) with stripes more difficult to find than the 634 (1963) with stripes?  Any help appreciated.     (Mike)

No, they were not totally identical. The 8010 has the MPC version has the newer motor and armature truck. Plastic couplers are different. Trucks have aluminum wheels instead of steel. The 8010 has a full compliment of ornamental parts like a chromed radio wheel and bell and marker lights. The 634 does not. The 8010 has a manual reverse, the 634 has a remote reverse unit. I wouls say the 634 with stripes is scarcer of the two. (including the 633 switcher).
