On another thread you mentioned 3D printing as a source for a cab shell. I no longer need the shell; but you stirred my interest.
I have searched in vain for a 1/43 model of my classic 66 Pontiac Lemans Hardtop.
is that something that could be 3D printed?

Yes, it can be 3D printed.
To 3D print it someone would first need to laser scan the entire exterior of the Lemans and possibly the interior of the Lemans if you needed more detail to the structural data.
Then with the data the 3D printer operator can use the 3D scan data to program the computer to print the layers.

Seems like a lot of work when 1:43 66 GTO’s exist, …….Lemans & GTO same car. I doubt the little O scale folks really care what’s under the hood, ….to be sure you could trim out a GTO to look at a Lemans, ……😉

@falconservice Thanks! Sounds expensive.
@harmonyards Good point, but all I’ve been able to find are convertibles and I want hard tops. I actually picked up about 6 GTOs for auto loads; but I really want the hardtop Lemans.

Snap On Tools had a collectible thing going on for a while with several mid-60’s muscle cars in 1:43 ,…..I distinctly remember a Goat, not sure if it was 66 or 67, but I do remember it being a hardtop, ….or maybe a vinyl top??……I know Pontiac loved vinyl tops, ….to hide those Fisher bodies as best they could,….🤣🤣🤣

I realize you're looking for a hardtop LeMans version, but Franklin Mint made a nice '64 GTO convertible...hood and doors open. A few for sale on the big auction site for under twenty dollars

Thanks but I need a hard top.
You could buy a 67 gto and repaint. For the tail light area, take a photo of a 66, resize and glue on. Fun, easy project. JohnA
One fly in the ointment 3D printing a car is having decent looking clear windows.
With a little surgery the 1966 GTO could become the LeMans, this is from eBay.
From the looks of the offerings, I could easily duplicate my 1964 GTO convertible, tons of offerings of convertibles.

The trick is finding a model with an interior. Then the windows can be separated and printed in clear resin. Still going to be a lot more expensive just purchasing a model (unless designing from scratch) than modifying an existing car on the big auction site such as that '66 Goat.

Thanks so much a perfect solution. I don’t understand why EBay didn’t alert me. There are tons of ragtops; but a hardtop was imperative!
Well, it is a GTO and not the LeMans, maybe that's why it missed.
If you 3D print it, you can print it in the correct scale of 1/48.
Guys....had several key word alerts on this thread. Please keep the discussion to the OP's question. Those that weren't were deleted. Thanks!

I did have two searches running. Thanks again for your help. I nailed a few of them to populate my Pontiac Dealership that was transformed from K-Line Ford Dealership.
No longer need any advice on 3D printing.
Thanks to all that responded.

I always like to have one of each, and hopefully you will

This Welly is definitely a 1965 GTO not a 1966.

I'd say you're right, I didn't look close and just went by the title.
