I have a Lionel 671 motor from 1946 that needs to be rewound. I hate to toss it but I am not the guy for the job. I have no use for it now that I replaced it. Any one out there willing to trade for something? I spent hours cleaning it before I realized a wire was not connected

Dave, which wire is not connected? You may not have to rewind anything; it may be a simple solder job.
Dan it’s a wire in the windings in the armature. When I put power to it ,it just moves slightly and locks up. I’ve looked but I can only see one stray wire which as you know is a very thin gauge

Dave, since you are uncomfortable trying to make this repair yourself, I would agree with Bruce. Email, or call, the motor doctor and get an estimate.
Just FYI, JustTrains has a rebuilt 671M-1 motor for $79.95.
Did you ever get your motor repaired or replaced? I have several rebuilt and tested motors ready to go.
I’m going to take a shot at rewinding it myself
The armature uses 28 gauge wire, is 130 turns in 10 layers wound clockwise.
The field is 23 gauge wire, 141 turns in 6 layers starting from the ground solder lug and ending at the brush plate.
