A Impressed Senior Hobbiest

I know that I'm not alone in this wonderful group (over 70 bunch) of hobbiests. I just received the new Lionel/MTH Tinplate Catalog. I'm really impressed with the offerings this year. My collection consists of almost 99% 1906-1932 Lionel. My children bought a Baby State Set for me two years ago. I've found that I'm running it more and more. I even purchased a the complete DCS System. I'm amazed at the performance of the new stuff at only 10-12 volts. My older pieces take 20+ volts..WOW!!

I want to buy another passenger set. Can anyone out there give me their report on how their 2013 trains perform? My Baby State Set has PS2. Is the PS3 any improvement? Can we keep this civil? I do not want this to become a "slam-fest".

I have a good many Lionel Corporation Tinplate and MTH tinplate trains (all O gauge). All are PS2 or PS3. I have been very happy with their appearance, performance, and durability. I no longer have or buy contemporary Standard Gauge trains due to lack of space, but I imagine they perform as well as the O gauge models.

My PS 2 LCT Lionel Coal Train and Flyer Iron Monarch sets have performed flawless, but not a lot of run time on either yet. Just got the O tin girls freight with PS 3 yesterday so I have no input on the newest version, but I run conventional any way.

I love all my PS-2 Lionel corp. engines. My newest is a PS-3 Presidents special electric and it runs as smooth as silk! I only go with the new tinplate and I do run in DCS.
