Hey guys - even though this is a model train board - I just HAD to share a few pics with you guys.  I took my Grandson, Aidan, to the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, NC.  We arrived VERY early so we'd get a chance to get a ticket to ride in the Cab of the engine that would pull the coach cars.  We were the ONLY ones there at 9am in the morning and we scored the seats! (only two seats available in the Cab)

Anyways, not only did we get to ride in the Cab of the FP7 Southern #6133, but both my grandson and I got to blow the horn.  What a great trip it was! Oh, and that's the engineer in the pic, not me!

..afterwards, we went home and played with his Lionel layout until we both passed out from exhaustion.

Here is Lionel's model of the first Reading T-1, No. 2100 (6-18006; made in 1989), custom painted and detailed as No. 2124 by Reading Steam Guru, in a meet with MTH Premier Reading GP30 No. 5513, preserved by the Reading Company Technical & Historical Society. No. 5513 was the first EMD production GP30.

Well, I just found a Williams Southern E7 A-A set on ebay - seller asking $275, he accepted my offer of $200 shipped.  States it's in C-8 condition - and has a good rerturn policy and rating.  I'm hoping my grandson will not notice the difference between the E7 and F7!

What a wonderful day!

If you'd like to spoil yourself and obtain a Southern diesel for YOU, Forum member 'charger' (Bob) has a Williams Southern F3 pair for sale.

We have these are they are very good copies (but with a better pilot) of the postwar Lionel 2356 pair from 1954.

This can also provide a 'teaching opportunity' for your young fella too!

Well if he does notice, just point out that the E7 is BIGGER than the F7! Bigger is better, right? I have the C&O A-B-A E7 set w/add-on power to the B unit. My most reliable and best puller. Love it!!!

If I'm wrong, I'm sure we'll be hearing about it. My memory of Southern Streamlined passenger cars were they were polished aluminum, not painted green. That said, if these float your boat, go for it.
