Am trying to sort through all the gobbly-goop and determine just what is the current fee retained when we sell an item on the Bay these days.  I'm remembering for years it was 9% for eBay and 3% for the mandatory PayPal.  Was 12% total. It seems higher now. What is your understanding for a completed regular transaction as a seller with no additional fees?

Thanks

The last Ebay update I got was 10% for Ebay.  That was quite awhile ago (maybe a year ago or so).  As far as Paypal, I don't know.  But, you have to consider the exposure you get...worldwide.  I have sold all over the globe.  And remember, now, Ebay makes it sooooo easy to sell worldwide.  So, I say go for it.

You'll pay 10% of the final value +30 cent insertion fee.

(You could also use the fee calculator to get a pretty good estimate.)

Shipping fee will be 1% of shipping cost.

Paypal adds 3%.

So all in you are looking at 14%-15%.

To sell high-end brass HO it's the way to go.

If the item fits in a USPS "Flat Rate box" figure add the cost of that shipping amount into the item price upfront. The item (up to 70 lbs.) will ship anywhere in the USA for that amount. Then on ebay offer "Free Shipping". Everybody knows they are really paying for the shipping in the cost of the item but at least you won't pay the 1% fee.
