As many of you may know, using Fastrack with various Post War designed accessories can present a small challenge, given the width of the built in roadbed.   If you're handy with a knife or Dremel, and not afraid to try, it can actually be a very easy, yet rewarding project.  No need to get a small section of tubular O on your Fastrack layout.

To place Bascule bridge on a Fastrack layout, You need, the bridge (), and two Fastrack 5" transition pieces.

The bridge track itself is 20", or two regular straight sections of Fastrack.  With the two 5" pieces you need at least a 30" section.

Now then, all you need to do is take one of the 5" transition pieces, and cut back the roadbed sides at about the third tie back from the transition side (where the tubular O pins sit).

This will allow you to slide the Fastrack right into the bridge and make a secure connection.

On the other side of the bridge, no modification is needed.   Just place the Fastrack transition piece, with pins facing the bridge.  I usually leave about a 1/16" to 1/8" gap so there's no binding when the bridge raises or lowers.

I screw the bridge and the two Fastrack transition pieces down, and do away with the funky alignment piece.

One of these days I'll get video, but I attached a few pics.

Next, I will show how I easily modify an operating track to work with the Post War Milk Platform.  Even less to cut.

Enjoy
