Adapting MTH Engine House to Lionel Fastrack

Can I adapt a MTH Engine House so it sits over Lionel Fastrack by using a Dremel tool to reshape the curvature of the engine house base plate? I think that the structure will sit down on the Fastrack if I shave a little plastic off the ends so it has the ballast shape of Fastrack rather than the Realtrax shape. Advice welcome!

I too am interested in what modifications could be made to get my early 2000's MTH dual engine house to fit over fastrack.
