I saw a really neat loco from lionel at my local store. A nickel plate that the whistle steams as well. Looked real cool. I have the z-4000, TIU w remote for MTH. What kind of issues will I encounter if I buy that loco and the lionel remote? Is it a good idea to mix the two?

I just hooked up legacy to my TIU. It took less than 5 minutes. You connect the terminal on the legacy base to the ground screw on Fixed Out 1, and then buy the TIU-Legacy cable from MTH and link them together.
Its that simple.
The signals dont interfere with one another.
I own both and run both. No issues.
Some have reported that some Legacy engines can degrade the DCS signal but have installed chokes to prevent it. I personally never had an issue.
Thanks. I think I will take the plunge I have just got to have me a loco with a smoking whistle. Now if I can find one with smoke coming out the side woo hoo.
I agree. The Legacy smoking whistles are awesome. I also run DCS and Legacy at the same time and have never had a problem. Both have there good points. My favorite is definitely Legacy. Enjoy...Jeff
I think the 4-6-2 pacific may be the way to go, but the product video I saw the whistle did not sound like I like . Does each loco have a different horn sound? I thought of the pacific because my outer loop is 54 but my inner loop is 42 so the other ones I saw in the catlog are too big for the inner loop.
