I want to install Kadee couplers on my Golden Gate Depot P70 Coaches. There are holes on the bottom of the cars that look like they are pre-drilled for Kadees. Does that seem right? Not sure what coupler to get. I also noticed in Kadee's website there are also a bunch of different screw sizes.  I wanted to just replace the original GGD couplers since a few of mine are broken, but no one from 3rd Rail has returned my calls or my e-mail.

The kadee coupler pads on all GGD cars are pre drilled and tapped for 2 mm screws. You can get the screws at any hobby shop, your local Ace hardware store, or Amazon.

If you retain the three rail wheelsets, and you will have to shim them as Boilermaker1 says.  I preferred to lower the car by shaving off some of the brass "bolsters."   The car looks better, and then you don't need shims.

Thank you for the information, but I am not seeing the brackets on the Kadee website. Not sure what they look like. I know there has been some mention of shims. Where do I find those?

The holes in the floor of the car are spaced for the Kadee bracket normally, not the Kadee coupler itself. The brackets have ears, that are wider than the draft gear box. So if you are not using the brackets, you will most likely have to drill your own holes.

Hello Dave_C. I apologize that I am just getting around to thanking you for the offer on the couplers, but I have been away for the holiday. It is very kind of you to offer.  I am still surprised that no one has gotten back to me from 3rd Rail. I am still exploring the option of Kadee couplers, but I didn't know there were so many different kinds. The Kadee website has so many products on it and it doesn't really go into a lot of detail on what I would need specifically. For example, what size drill to use, what is the right screw length, where do I find shims, what does the bracket look like and where do I find them, I have reached out to individuals on the forum for specifics and have gotten some very helpful responses, but still have questions.

John, is there a specific length of 2MM screw that I should
