I spoke with Lionel today and they tell me the American Flyer Fastrack grade crossing 6-49865 has been cancelled:
That's a shame. THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN AN EXCITING ACCESSORY FOR THE FASTRACK LINE!

I also notice that the ship date for the Southern Pacific Docksider set with FasTrack has been changed from February to May. Color me shocked.
(Of course, I'll be shocked if the set appears in May, so ...)

Well, seeing February ended a week ago...
It's a shame that the crossing gates were cancelled. Maybe this will free up the resources to Lionel to get the rest of the FasTrack line out, I'm sure the guys that have it would like to do more than an oval.
Perhaps the gates will live again in the future.

I had two on order, wanted to make sure they worked, I was impressed that Lionel was going to make crossing gates would have liked to buy 6 but need to see them work first.
If Lionel is really serious about american flyer then it needs to start to mfg. the same variety of accessories that they offer in Lionel O gauge. that includes track switches,ETC. I am hopeing that MTH starts offering a variety, of accessories expands switch offering from where S helper left off, and starts offering the same variety of products they offer in O gauge.
I too had two on order. This is somewhat concerning, any complete line of track should have a grade crossing with gates like this. It sure would be nice to know why Lionel axed this one.

I have heard that they are not really cancelled but instead they are being re-designed. I think the new catalog may confirm this.
Keep in mind besides the track, the two extra Polar Express Cars were dropped from the new shipping schedule and Lionel initially said they were cancelled as well but another person in Lionel confirmed that was not the case.

The smoking caboose I ordered back in early 2011 has now been kicked to Nov 2014! Got to be more to it than just fitting in a smoke unit. Maybe it's like the MKT PA's, from initially TMCC to all the bells and whistles Legacy.

That would be good news. I noticed that the O gauge similar accessory was still on the shipping schedule however it may not be new?
Anyway it sure is funny how many differing responses you get from Lionel.

The link to the new 2014-2015 track and power lionel catalog (link on the three rail side) does still list the grade crossing, in addition to several new items for s fastrack.

Ben...you are correct. Maybe the description of that accessory that now shows it having two 5 " activation sections included made Lionel remove the initial catalog listing for the crossing gates alone. I sure hope they do produce the item as it would be a great addition to any S gauge layout.
