I am looking for recommendations on a cheap, easy to use airbrush that I can try to learn with. I am likely going to try shooting acrylic paints.

Harbor Freight sometimes on sale for $9.99
Acrylics are a challenge to spray with an air brush. I learned using a single action Badger and had good results then progressed with Pasche dual action air brush.
To be honest though I like my chalks and paint brushes the best.
Here is a good thread on an airbrush. Click on the highlighted link.

I think I probably paid around $75.00 for a single action Badger and I agree with you. Airbrushing acrylics sometimes involves more time cleaning the airbrush than painting. I've been trying to paint track with water based Joe's Rusty Rail paint. After trying 4 different airbrushes I'm now painting the rails with a brush. It's faster in the long run. My paint brush hardly ever clogs unless my granddaughter is painting with it.
