Who's left that will model this new Amtrak?
I haven't seen it mentioned yet. 75 ordered at about $11m a copy. Is this new or am I late to the parade as usual?

Bachmann is offering Siemens locomotives in HO. As I understand it Siemens has a pretty steep licensing fee, so Bachmann would probably be the candidate.

jeez - you'd think that folks like Siemens or Amtrak, for that matter, would be happy to have the 'free' advertising that would come from having toys produced that look like their products or services (in the case of Amtrak). Don't people pay good money to have their products 'placed' in TV shows or movies (not a perfect analogy...)?
Siemens is not as model friendly as most. The licensing fee is the issue. I'd love to see 3rd Rail do them as they would do them right. We shall see. I would like an ACS-64 as well.

And Bachmann is making a Siemens SC-44 in N scale (still in preorder status), so that’s two scales. It’s possible Bachmann will extend its efforts to its Williams line, but I have my doubts based on what little new locomotive tooling the company has produced in recent years.
Lionel has hinted a couple of times during the catalog shows that a newly tooled Amtrak locomotive is on the way and in the design phase. Considering the number of road names the ALC-42 can be made in (because of the many commuter railroads and Amtrak paint schemes), it seems likely, at least to me, that Lionel is working on it right now.
125 mph. Still not as fast as a GG1.
But I like the name - first a Challenger, then a Charger. What's next? Durango?
In the latest catalog video from Lionel, Dave and Ryan mentioned that Lionel is working on more Amtrak models. For sure, we will see passenger cars to match the new Genesis diesels and maybe something else. I really want the Siemens Charger in O Scale from Lionel in their Vision Line along with some matching passenger car sets.

Yeah... like the "eggliner" was money "well spent"! How's that working out for ya Mr. BACHMANN?
GG1s never ran 125 in service. Their fastest gearing allowed them to run a hair over 100. Normal top speed was around 90 mph until they subbed for ailing Metroliners in the 70's and Amtrak cleared them for 100 mph in service running.
I thought this wrap of an ACS-64 was very tasteful, as well. I do like the looks of the ALC-42 and look forward to seeing them on the Lake Shore roaring through CNY at track speed!
I'd be in for an MTH Taurus or Trax loco painted in the new Amtrak schemes.
Thanks!
