I think this Great Western Pacific my be an All Nation Pacific, with a new fire box, domes, cab, trailing truck, and tender?

I think the wheels, some of the drive gear, the steam chest, and maybe the pilot truck frame are original All-Nation parts. It probably could've started out as a mechanism kit (the Pacifics were sold in three kits, the mechanism, the boiler, and the tender) for any one of their 6-drivered locomotives, the only difference between them being the tail beam and trailing truck.
I wonder if this was an All Nation 10 wheeler that got converted to a Pacific with the addition of the trailing truck. The overall length of the locomotive and the tender seem to be more like the 10 wheeler.
Regardless, it is a very nice looking locomotive. Of course I have soft spot for Belpaire fireboxes in general.
Nice.
I am certainly no expert; both of the above suggestions sound plausible to me. I think the All Nation lead truck is distinctly different from most others with their spring system for good tracking: maybe a look (and photo, please) at that...?
Johnbeere: Howdy. 🙂 Was the boiler on the AN Prairie the same as the Ten Wheeler? The boiler on this seems...smaller.
GG1 4877: that was my first thought...
Will be curious to see what everyone says; another great topic! 👍

All Nation drivers and maybe rods. The rest is apparently a pretty good scratchbuild. Don't forget - most of us who build locomotives use store-bought drivers, wheels, trucks, motors, and often rods.
Only one of my models has drivers 100% done here, and only maybe five or so have drivers machined from rough castings.
All Nation main frames leave a lot to be desired - I often replace them with heavier brass.
The tender looks like its got hand punched rivets. I suspect the boiler and cab are also scratchbuilt. It would take a lot of elbow grease to modify an All Nation boiler to be that accurate for a GN Pacific.
Its a good looking chooch.

Thanks for all your thoughts',, and Idease. I think the Priery idea is a strong posibility, haven't thought of that possibility. I obtained the model hear in Adelaide Australia, quite a suprise and will post some extra pics soon. The bioler is quite solid sounding and I don't think it's sheat metal. cTr...( Choose the Right )

I think I was right - the frame and pilot truck looks like All-Nation to me. The tender frame is All-Nation too, but from their smaller tenders, not the one that came with the Pacific. I'm not sure about the boiler, it doesn't remind me of anything. It would make sense that this was built from an All-Nation mechanism with everything else scratch built.

They did use different boilers, though the boiler on this locomotive doesn't look like either.

I think you are right too...👍

I think your all right, this model is mostly scratch built. The boiler is still a bit of a mystery, I need to pull it apart and look closer. cTr....( Choose the Right )
Sounds similar to my CNJ Camelback 10 wheeler. From what I was told on this forum the chassis is most likely All Nation, but the rest is of unknown origin. While All Nation did offer an Atlantic Camelback, photos of the body and boiler are different than what I have.

I don't believe I've seen a kit in any literature,etc.
That's definitely an All Nation chassis, but...
