Does anybody know the minimum radius for AM heavyweights with body mounted couplers? I'm thinking about a dog-bone and would like to know how small I can make it. Thanks

yes
Jonathan, that's interesting. I wonder how you are able to do that. I have no trouble with 40 ft freight cars with body mounted Kadee #5 couplers on SHS 20" radius track, however anything much longer does not work. My AM heavyweights with body mounted kadee's won't negotiate SHS 24" R. For that reason I have a loop of 29" R on my Xmas layout just for them. I was wondering how much tighter the radius could be. I think I've heard 27" R, but without a lot of work laying flex track I have no way to test.

Tom,
Did you contact American Models and, if so, what did they tell you?

Hey Ray, thanks for reminding me. It's no longer train season here and I let it slip to the back burner. Has soon as central time awakens, I will try to call today.

Tom,
That might work for the short ones but the 80 footers need wider with kadee couplers.

Right you are. The 80 ft cars need more like 36", though 33" with easements does work
