Frank, if this is what you have, that's not a push button, it's the other terminal post to wire to the track.

The push-button on that transformer is the Direction Change button (and second terminal) -- it interrupts power for the e-unit to cycle.  There is no horn/whistle control.

Hopefully you are just Dumb, and can Learn, good indication of that in you asked the question

Hi all, thank you for all of the replies. OK, stupid Frank strikes again or dumb Frank takes another dive. Indeed, the direction push button unscrews and that is the other terminal. If this works I think I will use it to power the short street car line I am planning in my main street part of my layout. Anyone have a source for good quality 027 lock-ons?

No need for a lock-on when using tubular track.  you can either solder the leads to the bottom or just insert a butter knife into the seam and insert your wire.

How perfectly obvious that is the second terminal as well as direction button.  Sure woulda had me scratching what hair I have left for a few minutes.   Clever but not obvious, especially if someone bought it as a starter set with no instruction sheet (they still print them don't they )
