This shell and frame have been laying in a plastic bin for years. Decided it was time. No roof, no headlight, no motor. Roof was made from sheet brass. The headlight is a Marx floodlight and the motor is a Marx. Looks and runs nice now.

Great job Steve! Something about those critters I like.
Looks like it was a fun project, nice job.
Wow! Nice!! Quite a transformation. Looks like the Marx motor suits it.

Looks pretty decent.
Sweet!
The Marx motor must be the small block Chevy of vintage electric trains! I see them used to repower a lot of old classics. LOL

Andy, that's a pretty good analogy of the Marx motors.

Steve,
Looks great, makes me want to get into my pile of junk (if I can ever find the time).
Did you make the handrails or did you already have them?

Bill, the handrails are the only thing I got with the shell. Rusty, but at least they were there.

Puts my diesel switcher project to shame.
Great project, and I agree with Andy. Nicely done!
Very nice. Took a break from the Standard Gauge stuff, eh?
Jeff, was doing a lot of cleaning stuff out and getting ready to sell, throw out or whatever. Came across this that I had completely forgot about. Instead of moving it around and storing it, decided to get it done. A quick and simple project. Black is soooo easy to work with.

Jack, I have another very nice original black 1218. I just took a picture of the rubber stamping on it, printed on glossy self stick paper. was a simple process.
