Thanks to Ron indeed! My order is in, spoke to Ron this AM. He is rerunning the 5 car set plus the extra coach. The 3 car green NH set of 80' cars is still in stock as well for those with minimum track radii 27" or greater.
Anybody asking about a NYC set. They've been sold out for a while, too.

NYC as well? I did not ask about them and Ron did not volunteer the NYC information when I spoke with him. Looks like I will be ordering more AM passenger cars.
That's the nice thing about a company based here in the US. Ron will run just about anything if there's enough demand for it. That's how the full length Pullmans were re-released a few years ago.
Most of the molds are in his warehouse, and the injection molding is done semi-localy here in Michigan. His place is also set up for basic screen or pad printing, My train club, the Southeastern Michigan S Gaugers, had a meeting at his place last year, and it was amazing to see the items on the shelves, both bare body shells and chassis' ready for assembly.
Another nice thing is that Ron usually has extra parts for just about everything. Even bare body shells are available.

I sent an email this morning via AM's contact us on the website. By 2:17 this afternoon, had a reply...
Yea we will have the NH next week to send out and NYC in a couple of weeks.
Best r

This is a company I will support, now I might have to hunt for their NYC Hudson...

After posts about nobody answering the phone at the big guys, you get a reply same day from the owner. Maybe we S people don't have it so bad. Jerry explained it well.
AND...it would be nice if Ron would do a little promoting on this forum as a sponsor since you guys help him get orders...
We are good at AM as long as Ron is active in the company. I have spoken to him many times, seems he always answers the phone on the first ring.
Tom, at the last in person S Fest AM had one new DC/scale streamlined Hudson on the table. Price was full list, not negotiable. I passed it up, kind of regret that decision. Ed Goldin was also at the show and he agreed to convert it to TMCC if I bought it. You might ask Ron if he still has that engine, they are hard to find.

Alan,
I mentioned the forum to him Monday when I was ordering Engines and the NH cars. I suggest you reach out to him.

I did some time ago (more than once) but no return call. I think you all might emphasize that he is benefiting right now because of the forum and could benefit more with our ability to help him through a forum sponsorship.
Thanks!

Port Lines has a scale wheel version for sale.
Boy, as much as I would love to have an NYC set, I swore off buying any more of AM's heavyweights because of the poor trucks. I have very, very few complaints about AM's products, but those flimsy trucks on the heavyweights are not good. I have hunted and gathered a few old brass passenger trucks over the years but not enough to replace a full set.

Thanks for the heads-up on the AM Hudson, Chuck. Luckily for my wallet, I run mostly Hi-rail, but it is DC… tempting.
I have heard all sorts of things about the AM heavyweight’s trucks, but I haven’t had a problem. I remember one did come apart years ago, however I reassembled it and have not had a problem since. That was on the first run of the PRR set.

The trucks on the Budd cars are excellent, compared to those the trucks and coupler arms on the heavyweights are not so good. I did two things to improve the situation. Beginning with the first run set of lightweight 80' cars I shortened the arm on each coupler by 1/4", bringing the cars closer together and reducing the droop of the coupler arm. The lightweight trucks work fine after tightening a few screws and fully snapping in the sideframes. The lighting circuit boards were replaced with the new version using LED's with the 1,000mfd capacitor. New axle wipers were carefully installed. These old cars now run perfectly with no flickering. The trucks from the heavyweight coaches will not interchange with the trucks on the 80' lightweight coaches.
I then applied this mod to all the 70' heavyweight coaches. First I installed six wheel trucks, then shortened the coupler arms by 1/4" to reduce the spacing between cars by 1/2". The six wheel trucks work a lot better than the four wheel. These cars now look a lot better and it is a pleasure to run them trouble free.
Anybody hear any updates? I haven't and the online catalog hasn't changed either. Still listed as 'sold out'.

No update here. My order is in, I did it over the phone with Ron.
Thanks Tom, I sent him an email asking to let me know when I could order. I haven't heard back yet. So, maybe I should just call. Did you get the NYC or NH?

Tom,
I would call him if you want positive information.

Okay, I'm in. Ron was noncommittal about extra coaches with different numbers. I told him if runs the extra numbers to include two extra coaches, too. At the least, I've ordered the 5 car NYC set.

Interesting, when Ron took my order he said there would be one extra coach so I ordered it. I also ordered the matching three car set of 80' sleepers and diner.
