Corbin Bates has asked on a different forum how many S scalers would like to see a rerun of the American Models 3-unit and 5-unit spine cars. There are some missing molds that would have to be replaced; but if enough customers were interested, they would plan on a rerun. These were nice cars available with the choice of high-rail wheels and American Flyer compatible couplers or scale wheels and couplers. Many of those who responded were interested in knowing what lengths of truck trailers would fit on these cars. I found that the SHS 34-ft trailers that came with their trailer-on-flat-car models did not fit well. The rear wheels of the REA trailer were short of their support. The American Models 40-ft trailers (Mo-Pac example below) fit perfectly as expected, and the MTH 45-ft. trailers (e.g. PFE below) also fit well. The more modern 48- and 53-ft trailers were far too long, as is visible with Des Plaines Hobbies container loads that overhang the entire spine car.

If 1/64 scale modelers are interested in a rerun, they should send a note off to American Models.
