Beautiful locomotive, David. Is it Ace? Darstaed? B-L? Thx.
Very nice engine. I'm not into tinplate that much but you are right, it is a beauty!
An interesting class of loco with an interesting story:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SR_V_Schools_class
"It was the last locomotive in Britain to be designed with a 4-4-0 wheel arrangement, and was the most powerful class of 4-4-0 ever produced in Europe. All 40 of the class were named after English public schools, and were designed to provide a powerful class of intermediate express passenger locomotive for lines which could cope with high axle loads but some of which had short turntables."
I happened to see a live one of this class named "Repton" at Pickering Station on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway in 2007. This one has toured USA and was owned by an American, according to an ID plate.
In David's video there is (I believe) a Merchant Navy class loco running on the next track, another interesting loco which has distinctive styling.

Well spotted Ace !
It is in fact a West Country class loco - the so called baby version of a Merchant Navy class. The one running is a fictional locomotive made for me by Ace Trains - 21C100 Ruan Lanihorne. Here she is with Fighter Command....

PS - Lee - I am sorry your buddy did not get his Schools - I think there are a few others like him out there. I was really lucky to get mine - I ordered it almost three years ago !
All good stuff David. Enjoyed the videos.
Also interesting to note: Schools class, Merchant class and West country class are all three cylinder locomotives, which is not uncommon for many of the higher-output English steam locos.
