Nice model. Excellent visual in "lots a' smoke"...

BUT...

The "smoke" is fan driven, not "chuffing/puffing" realistically.

IMHO, that's where the O 3 rail models have it all over the non-puffing scales. It is VERY nice looking to see an O 3 rail model starting slow and shooting wads of "smoke" into the air with an audible "CHUFF, CHUFF, CHUFF..." in synchronous fashion.

I agree laming. While a lot of smoke is certainly nice to look at, chuff-driven smoke and sound were 2 of the main reasons I chose O-Gauge when I got back into model railroading. Even though I could do more with HO, O-Gauge just has that extra degree of realism I was looking for. It's really apparent when I visit the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park where they have N, HO and G Scale layouts next to each other in the same building. Each has the same amount of space (1,280 sf) and while one can certainly get a lot more N and HO Scale railroading in that space, O Scale is a lot more visually appealing, at least to me. But, I sure did like seeing all the smoke, would probably set off my smoke alarms.

The magic combo is a Frank Timko MTH PS2 unit loaded up with JT's MegaSteam and wired in with ERR's Cruise Commander and Puff N' Chuff technology. As was discussed in another thread there was a concern this could fry a triac on the R2LC board but thus far I've had no issues. Maybe Frank has some sort of secret technique that makes the MTH unit play nice with Lionel electronics.
