An update on Atlas O F7's and Dash-8's...... Plus - if you didn't order one and want one now - I can get it for you.....

I talked with Atlas O this morning and the tooling is not yet complete for the F7 models they announced and we pre-ordered last year. We are now expecting delivery of these engines in second quarter, maybe even late second quarter, of 2016.

The good news is that with this delay, they are open to my ordering additional units as long as I place my order by next Wednesday, January 20th.

So, if you would like to order an Atlas O F7 or add to your order in the next week, I will honor my original pre-order pricing of $419.96 for powered and $189.96 for unpowered. I know my website has them priced higher - but you will receive the additional discount if you order them in the next week.

Steve,  Now that Atlas seems to have straightened out their overseas production issues.  Would you happen to know if they ever plan on blowing the dust off any of their old tooling?  For example, SD40's, SD35's, Century series diesels?  I really would like to see their SD40's come back.

I wish Atlas-O would have proven me wrong on this one, but here's something I posted in early December from another thread.  I just had a sixth sense that a January 2016 delivery for these jewels was a pipe dream despite what Atlas-O stated on their website...

Good question, and it seems to be anyone's guess.  I'm planning on mid-2016.

Atlas-O's shipping schedule says 4Q2016, but I think that window closed months ago.  Think about it... Today is Dec 10.  The last container shipment listed on the current Atlas shipping schedule hit the water on Nov 22, and the F7's weren't on that boat.     Given year-end holidays, New Years and what-not, Atlas-O will probably ship the stuff in that Nov 22 container to dealers around mid- to late-January.  So it could be late-January / early-February at the earliest  before consumers receive those products.  That's just the way it is these days.

At York, one dealer told me to expect the F7's around June.  So that's what I'm thinking.  I could be convinced otherwise if we heard definitive word that the F7's were coming off the factory assembly line NOW, or if they're in a shipment that leaves China this month yet.  But we're not hearing that.  So until we hear something more definitive, the mid-2016 timeframe sounds more reasonable for now.

It's just so odd/ironic that we're just NOW hearing that the F7 tooling still isn't complete... and here we are just two weeks AFTER the entire product shipment should have arrived Stateside.    Where is the disconnect here??? 

Bottom line... this is so typical of the importer/manufacturer relationships nowadays in this hobby.  Stuff gets catalog'd... then it's typically 12-24 months before delivery.  Nothing wrong with that... I just wish the importers would be more candid with consumers when discussing the realities of today's manufacturing environment.  Nonetheless, we've pretty much figured out the landscape anyway.  That's why I'm thinking whatever Lionel features in their upcoming catalog next week... will more than likely see the light of day in late 2016 to late 2017.  Makes it too easy for enthusiasts to "sign up" for pre-orders/reservations willy-nilly in sheer excitement of a new product announcement...  only to be slammed months later when everything arrives at once anyway -- even with different importers. 

Case in point:  I received a confirmation email from Sunset/GGD/3rdRail a couple of days ago to re-confirm a few extra add-on El Capitan cars from the second production run which is now scheduled for May 2016.  (Then allow another month or so for overseas shipping and domestic processing/delivery.)  So now folks also ordering these cool Santa Fe F7's with stainless steel plating from Atlas-O may see those arrive in the middle of 2016... along with those Atlas-O Maxi-IV well cars too.  Looks to be an expensive Summer for some folks, 'cause none of these gems is cheap!!!   It always seems to work that way!

This poor picture is all I could find here at the Erwin yard.  My Dad worked as a brakeman on the 816 . Never seen a model of it.

What you have pictured are the Masterline 8-40B/BW reruns scheduled for 2Q16 the poster had asked about the long awaited Trainman 8-40 CW engines scheduled for 1Q16.
