Great news, I just got word from my repair guy that the problem was 2 cold solder joints on the little board in the tender, but, the part is on back order.
O well I guess I wont be seeing my dreyfuss for a while...

Why do you need a part to fix a couple of cold solder joints? Your repair guy should just FIX the cold solder joints. It would take two minutes.
l'd make sure I got the old board back. As Rich says, it should be easy to touch-up those cold solder joints to make it work.
Was this PS-1 or PS-2? G

Perplexing, the only "small" board that could cause this is the small charging tether plug. I agree that is an easy solder repair, but I guess there could be translation issue unless you talked to the tech directly. Sometimes the shop owners don't fully comprehend what the tech is saying
If the small board is the Power Supply, that is $80 MSRP and that is repaired at the component level for less. G
Tinplate Art, "life without literature is death" is an interesting signature for a model train forum IMHO and in Latin no less. Is there a backstory to its use here? Granted there are many misspellings, syntax may be poor, character and plot development is fairly mundane, but then, again, I've never considered posts on a forum to be literature.
Please do explain.
Nick,
Next time you need something done send to GGG here on the OGR.

Was it $80? Hopefully they gave a quote before doing the work. G
