I have two Beep engines. One manufactured several years ago and one manufactured recently.
When I run both engines side by side, the older engine is much slower than the new one. Were the gear ratios different with the older models?
If I couple/lash the two engines together, am I better off using the newer engine to pull the slower one or visa versa?
They are both the PRR Tuscans with different road numbers 8004 and 8006.

I asked this when the newer ones came out (same times as the BEEFs were released, and Walter said not, not the gear ratios. The electronics that route power to and control the engines were changed to affect a different speed-vs-voltage curve, or something. But anyway, they act like they have different ratios, yes.
Of course, Lee's right. I've taken the wheelsets from a very old BEEP and used it in a newer one, gears are exactly the same.
I strip out the electronics to put in command, so I don't worry about different characteristics of the stock electronics.
