Was the 783 ever included in a set or was it a single sale only. If it was in a set or sets does anyone know what rolling stock was included? Thanks

It was a separate sale item. The 784 B&A was a set offered direct from Lionel.
Let's not forget the 785 NYC Gray Hudson, which I have. It was a separate sale item, with no set. Mark
Grampstrains were the cars offered passenger cars or fright cars?
The standard O cars were freight cars, advertised on the same page as the loco in the catalog. The next page of the catalog showed the NYC f3 set and passenger cars, so I think it's safe to assume that Lionel was suggesting that those passenger cars might also look good with the 783 on the previous page. I think that was the 1983 or 1984 catalog.
The 5340 was also a separate sale item. I think Lionel also reran the scale sized Red passenger cars that were sold with the original Pre War 5344.
