Just came back from there mid-February. Two train stores -- no 2-rail/minimal O gauge. I'm in the process of relocating (soon as I get the right job) and the plan is to drastically thin the herd (3-rail stuff I don't use much), and build a 2-rail point-to-point inside and a 3-rail "garden train" outside.
Was at the area train show and it was virtually all H.O. and N. I was the only O scale standard gauge guy there (there was a guy doing On30). Like Bob said, there are some private 2-rail O scale layouts, but no club activity or public layouts. There's one O gauge group operating out of the Memorial Mall across from Target, but their operation is geared more toward toy train operation.
Four hours away in Dallas, there's the DFW O Scalers -- a 2-rail club. Layout is small, but the members are friendly. They do a sectional/modular setup at the meets in the DFW area.
