I did, when I lived in Sweetwater, Texas.  I had been to Kansas City on business, had an afternoon to kill, saw a train shop in Lenexa that had a KCS E8 and a bunch of matching passenger cars by MTH, took home a catalog, and ordered a Z-4000, track, a TIU and a Santa Fe passenger train.  After it arrived, I eagerly set up a carpet layout for a couple of weeks.  Meanwhile, my next door neighbor had purchased a Lionel RS3, some track, quite a few cars, and a transformer from a friend who was moving.

Neither of us had any idea that the other had 3-rail trains until we were both out mowing our respective yards and we took a break.  I said, "I want to get this finished so I can run my trains."  "What trains?"  "Oh, I have some 3-rail O gauge trains and I have a track set up on the carpet right now."  "I do too!"  Not long after that, we both moved.

I moved to the State College PA area 18 months ago and have found about a half dozen that live with in a 15 minute drive of me on only about 3 miles away. But sadly no next door neighbor.

Have you ever heard of the Mifflin County Model RR Club. We're other here in Lewistown. We have two Layouts, One Ho and the other O Gauge with a little O Scale mixed in. We meet Every Tuesday around 7 pm. Always looking for new members as a lot of the group has died off over the last few years. If you would have any interest you can contact me by E-mail and arrange to have a visit.
