What a great Christmas 'layout' there Craig. That's larger and more impressive than the best of my early 1950's Christmas layouts as a boy.  Mom would let me extend out aways from the tree but our home was rather small so I felt/was severely constrained!  Only caution would be that over-taxed wall outlet that might be a concern!  Ha!

Thank you, my wife allows the grandkids and me to build it out. The outlet has no load on it, but does look scary. Every year the kids pick the trains they want to run off the big layout and away we go, they do it all I just answer questions and enjoy. ‘ if more people played with Trains, the world would be a better place”

PS my wife and I will be moving back to the top of Georgia in the mountains…….i sense a train playing  barbecue

There are several of us just a bit to the north and east of there Craig - Keep in touch and we might be able to all get together sometime!

Sam, Torby, and hopefully George in Maggie Valley, NC and three fellas in the Franklin/Dillsboro area building layouts.

We have a favorite expression in Real Estate - "No one retires and moves north!"    We welcome all 'youse guys' getting ready to wind up your jobs, businesses, or careers to come have a look at these beautiful Appalachian mountains. They'll bury me here...

Amen

If a piece of rolling stock or locomotive is scale proportions and runs on 3 rails, then that should be considered 3 rail scale.  This whole focus on kadee couplers being the definition of 3 rail scale is a pile of horse hockey in my opinion.   Just ridiculous lmao.  I'll just put kadees on a string of mpc era cars and call is 3rs if that is the basis of the definition.  Sorry, the whole thing just seems like snooty/grumpy gatekeepers trying to act better than others

So, did you happen to read and comprehend the explanations, etc. at the top of this forum? It is NOT just "all about Kadee couplers".
