I posted this yesterday on the Hi-rail forum, but judging from the silence I suspect this might be a better place. The LionScale (formerly Weaver) AC-2 hoppers in the new Lionel catalog look nice, and I like the ease of fitting them with Kadees, but I wish they were available unlettered with reporting marks. Would anybody else be interested? Perhaps if enough people get on board, a dealer might get Lionel to make a special run.

One of the problems with obtaining undecorated freight cars today is, the lack of good quality decals, especially for "steam era" cars.
I would be up for a few! Would look great on the layout with our Detroit 3 Railers logo applied to the side of it.
I believe Lionel will do custom runs, but I believe the minimum order is 200?
My interest is because I'm modelling the Virginia Blue Ridge Ry, which always had strings of these things for the apelite plant on the line. They were lettered in different way than Southern AC-2s that have been produced, and easy enough to replicate with alphabet dry-transfer sheets. Here's a photo that's atypical because there's only one AC-2 in it!

Judging by the dearth of responses, it looks like I'm going to have to get good at removing lettering!
Be more specific with the railroad name and number series.

That's just what I've done with a few cars already (Atlas O did make a completely undecorated one), but I had a hard time finding decals with the correct reporting marks. I wasn't aware that Champ made just the right thing - thanks for the tip! Just purchased a few on Ebay.
Yes I would like some...... So hard to find CN & CP Hoppers in the stores and catalogs.
Are the Atlas O undecorated ACF 70-ton 2-bay covered hoppers
-too expensive
-too fragile
-too rare
It would be possible for the people at LIONEL to have the bodies painted and the sides printed with graphics for the railroads you requested.
What are the favorite rairoads?
