Does anybody here custom paint? I have an All Nation F7 I would like to get repainted. Probably into ATSF Warbonnet, or CGW early scheme. Both are probably beyond my meager painting ablities due to the complex masking needed.

Christine J. Braden of CJB Custom Painting & Designs custom painted Walter Matuch's RMT (formerly K-Line) streamliners to match my 2348 M&StL GP9. I came across a Diner and a Pullman at York. I sent them to her. When she finishes them I'll have a full K-Line set. Her ATSF Warbonnet or CGW early scheme would look great! Email her at cbraden77@comcast.net

If you want the best call Harry Heike. Not cheap, but the best I have seen. Len Carparelli does some custom work now, may be able to do it.

Extremely high quality custom paint work is available from Matt Forsyth. His contact info...forsythrailservice@yahoo.com
This fellow is NOT cheap, but he IS the best by far. A long waiting period is also an understood part of using his service since he is in demand. BUT when you need a spectacular paint job or custom work on that special locomotive, he's the one.

So... let me see if I can connect the dots:
Forum name: "CGWforever"
Primary picture content: CGW
Gets custom paint work for CGW.
Okay... I think I've figured it out: You like the CGW!
CGW was a neat road. They were in KC during my modeling era: Early 1960s.
Here's a pic of a Bowser HO GW DS4-4-1000 I picked up a while ago. It's DCC/Sound equipped from the factory and runs/sounds great...
And here's a pic of the real deal!
Ain't that cool?

laming,
Thanks for share the pictures of HO CGW DS4-4-1000! She look awesome! I grew up in small town in Iowa named Gladbrook, on CGW's main line between Twin Cities/ Kansas City, often see ex CGW F units.
Currently she (CJB Custom Painting) are working on my CGW's TR2 cow and calf and CGW's Doodlebug. Both are from MTH.
Ask to see as much of a painters work as possible before sending yours in. Pay close attention to how clean and straight paint lines are. Some look good at 5 feet but not so good up close. Custom work is expensive, get the best you can for the money.

I agree with Bob about Matt Forsyth. Without a doubt a very, very good craftsman and honest to deal with guy. Where I'd spend my money when I need work I don't do myself.
Lee Turner, a master at weathering. Check out his RS3, superb!
Those CGW units look great! If I was going for that era scheme, I could paint that on my own, I am pretty good with an air brush. Just not real sure about my ablities to do the complex masking for either the CGW early scheme or ATSF warbonnet. The All Nation F7 to me, atleast according to my guide on F units, a late F3 and not an F7 as marketed by AN. She sports the twin rectangular mesh grills for the dynamic brakes where as the F7's had a 36" roof top cooling fan. Unless early F7's also blended into the late F3's from an outward appearance since late F3's also looked much like an F7 and are sometimes called an F5. Mike
I sent an email to CJB for a quote as I am on the fence on what to do with this unit. Which way I go will completely determine what style benchwork I need to build. Thanks for all the suggestions. And that RS unit is totaly bad ***. Mike
How would the paint job on an All Nation Diesel affect your benchwork?
The model is all metal - you cannot lose by attempting paint yourself. At worst you could get a couple spray cans of Rustoleum and try it. ATSF might be easiest - two colors and some decals to save your masked interface. The red is kind of muddy - might have to buy a special rattle can with either ATSF red or SP Scarlet - same color.
