Like to find someone here with 3-D printing to see if they could make/print up some O-scale fueling bay nozzles, either large station-type or the newer fitting type (like on the MTH sanding tower).
Anyone up to it?
Thanks!

There are many threads on this subject if you want to search for it. LOTS of cool new things being done with 3D printing!
Here's the list of OGR topics I came up with by searching for "3D printing"

I'd like to see some PRR-style water columns made, ALA Keystone Model Works that is now out of business
At the New York Toy Fair, Mattel announced a 3D printer for $300 to be released in October. See the second item down, "Not So Easily Baked," at http://www.newequipment.com/Ma...4afaa77b18963b299ba2.
We don't know what the quality will be, but if it's decent it could really open up the possibilities of creating things with 3D printing at home. It's available for pre-order at Amazon.
Cheers!
Keith
popcorn popping.
I think this technology is so cool, but it's not just a matter of having a 3d printer.
Designing and drawing what you want is going to be the sticky part. From what I've read, determining what material you're going to make your pieces from determines how you design/draw it. Where do you get the drawing for that replacement part you're looking for?
Modelers need to determine which material is going to be best for our use. Will one material be best for HO and another for O? Within O, will the size of a building wall panel require a different material than a boxcar or a replacement part?
I got some 3D printed louvers from Bill Lane around this time last year:

but he's no longer involved (got a full-time job).
I used to be a draftsman (last century, early 70s) and can make a drawing, by pencil and paper. using one of the 3D software programs takes some time getting efficient with it, more time than I probably want to invest. To pay someone to design and make a piece may be cost prohibitive for an individual, especially if you're the only one wanting/needing a single piece.
I hope not, this could really be beneficial to our hobby.

I was hoping to find someone willing to "print" up some nozzles in O-Scale size for a fueling rack setup. I got a couple of replies from people; the cost of doing it was out-of-sight. Didn't realize it was so expensive to make up, print up, a dozen or so of them. Way way out of my price range .. in the hundreds of dollars.
Got a lead to order them as the hoses on the MTH sanding tower. Looking for the part number ... then a call to Midge I guess.
Thank you for the suggestions.
I'm using shapeways.com

Good luck Guys, John
I am having a terrible time trying to make models that are 3d printing ready. One model I want to print was done by an N scaler and he let me have the file. I plan on just scaling it up for my needs. Maybe see if any ho or n guys have done it. Worth a shot.
This is my attempt at what the White Pass called a Rotary Caboose. I tried to upload it to shapeways and it was full of "holes". Wouldn't print.
