Anyone besides me want to see MTH RailKing Auto carriers? Both MTH Premier and Lionel are way to large and don't come close to looking like they fit in.

I'm with you on this...my layout is all O36 and O42 curves so I can't use any of the new autocarriers. I have been keeping my eyes open for some of the older Lionel ones but new Railking versions would be great. As with everything else it is about marketing which is what keeps everyone in business...so fair enough. Best we can do is write our suggestions to the companies and encourage others to do likewise.

What would be a good compromise for tight radius curves is the Greenbrier/Gunderson AUTO-MAX Articulated Bi-Level Auto Carriers done for the RailKing line like the Gunderson Husky-Stack intermodal well cars.

I agree. I would love to see Railking Auto Carriers. My son has an MTH CSX Engine and he wants auto carriers but as was mentioned before, Lionel and Premier are way to big for our layout.
Hi, Gents.
Assuming you're referring to enclosed auto racks, are you familiar with the series of cars Lionel introduced during the Kughn era? They're well proportioned for operation with traditionally sized equipment on tighter curves.
Here's a link to a photo of one of these cars:
These cars are easy to find and should fit your needs.

Bob
Bob is right, I bought a bunch of these, my grandson has a great time loading them with Matchbox cars for shipment around the rails.
I saw these before and I thought they were a little undersized in my opion.

YES!!! Railking Modern auto racks would be perfect. The MTH Premier and new Lionel scale 24" cars are just too big. Those older Lionel ones are too small and toy like. I have a bunch of the MTH Railking husky stacks. Railking sized auto racks, that's what I'm waiting for.

Hi Bob,
That is one Honest ebay seller, the broken and missing doors are a MUST mention, but how many are going to mention, especially in BOLD, the Bad Odors?
Doug
Hi, Doug.
I didn't even read the item description when I posted the link. I was just looking for a quickie photo of one of these cars to link for the benefit of the previous posters. The price posted for a car with the defects noted is quite high. MIB examples can be found lower than that.
Bob
Never mind my bad, I had a Dyslexic moment, I misread doors as odors. I have had a few ebay purchases that I wished they had mentioned, an odor, mainly from chain smoking owners, but not all of them.
I guess to paraphrase the old carpentry rule, Read twice, Post Once

Sounds like a great idea, and one that would be a good seller for MTH. Lionel did traditional size open and closed auto racks in years past, but the closed ones were kind of lightweight and tippy and the open ones were so small that HO-size Matchbox cars looked about right in them. A slightly bigger, better quality, and properly weighted auto rack would be welcome. I wouldn't be a customer, since I go more for steam era and scale size, but I think there's definitely a latent market potential there.
What I'd really like to see is a scale Evans Auto Loader and the open auto racks of the 50's, and some 1/48 cars to go with them. K-Line did make a near-scale Evans, which looked a lot like a stretch version of the Lionel Postwar Auto-Loader. Unfortunately it was generally supplied with open Corvettes or T-Birds because they were the only 1/43 cars that would fit. I'd like to see either a true scale Auto-Loader or one with its dimensions tweaked a bit to accommodate 1/43 cars. The current Rail King auto rack is a nice looking rig, but it looks out of proportion being set up for only 4 cars. I think it would be possible to build a 6-car unit that would still clear most people's curves - if not 031, then at least 036.
Matchbox and Hot Wheels cars & trucks are mostly 1/64th scale in size.
I have used them for the Lionel Open-Frame Auto Carriers.
It can take several weeks to find enough similar Hot Wheels and Matchbox autos.

I should have been more specific and stated corrugated auto carriers.
Joe
The MTH Premier O Scale Auto Carriers with Corrugated Screens are mildly compressed and the Lionel O Gauge Auto Carriers are extremely compressed.
The Lionel O Gauge Auto Carriers are S Scale Height, HO scale length, and O gauge width for maximum compression.
You would have to determine the maximum length, before asking for the RailKing Auto Carrier with Corrugated Screens.
What is missing in the auto carrier timeline are the ones in the late 1960's and early 1970's that had corrugated screens on just the sides and no roofs, with varying size signplates for the railroad logos. That would be the one appropriate for RailKing's time period for use with all those 1960's and 1970's diesels.
The Gunderson Auto-Max Articulated Automobile carrier is what would match the RailKing SD70ACe diesels.

Oh. I thought you were giving some away.
