Listed on Ebay as Hornby Std Gauge. These are from Arno's collection and that is how he had them tagged, so the seller has then listed that way. They look like Marx floor toy gondola's to me. The Marx floor toys are often called Std Gauge. What do you think? Did Hornby ever make something like these?

I agree with Daniel that these gondola's have nothing to do with Hornby, but Hornby made larger then 0 gauge, like in the seventies this 3.5 inch gauge (1:16 scale) live steam Rocket with coaches.

Further I once found a Marx tender which looked like standard gauge and after some discussion I was told that Marx also made these floor-trains in the Swansea factory in England, i.e. British Marx. So maybe by labelling Hornby it was meant to be called British (just a guess). The tender looks very much like the gondola:
