Inspired by, but not inclined to mimic Steve's gauge mod, I decided to acquire the NYC freight set and set it up on the supplied plastic sectional gauge 2 track. This set has a three AAA powered remote and a six C cell powered NYC A unit. The consist is a Pacemaker livery box car, a green NYC chemical tank car and a delightful center cupola NYC caboose. The sound system is remarkably well done for such a basic nominally priced set, and includes a diesel "roar", bell. whistle and several crew talk comments. Great toy like fun to operate! The track firmly snaps together and I placed a half straight between each curved quadrant. I further employed a number of black stick-on rubber "bumpers" (3/4" X 1/4") to keep the track from sliding. My purchase price with shipping was $99 and I feel like I got my money's worth! Highly recommended for JUST FUN!
